💜 M2M Fans Newsletter #3

The unofficial M2M newsletter!

Hello, everyone!

It’s been a while! Since our last newsletter, M2M performed at Sentrum Scene in September, then Taipei and Bangkok in November, and will soon perform in MĂ©xico at La Maraka!

To say that 2025 was the year of M2M is an understatement. The Better Endings Tour was a smashing success and their year was lined with firsts: first time headlining a tour, first time performing at their home town, first time in control of the narrative.

And with them, the fans roared back to life. Both old and new fans found themselves at the center of a purple hurricane, with the two artists as the driving force.

This newsletter will be all about the comeback this year! We’ll go over the year and what the future looks like for M2M 💜

Marit and Marion at Sentrum

As always, please remember to check the official sources. As much as I enjoy writing this newsletter and adding more commentary to certain items, there is no substitute for following M2M on their official accounts here:

🎾 The Better Endings Tour

Concerts in México are coming up!

Kicking off in Jakarta, dazzling fans through SEA then pausing for a breather in Oslo, The Better Endings Tour has raged on for most of 2025. There are only 2 (known) concerts left and they’re in 2026.

As an old-school fan (since 1999!), I was lucky enough to catch them in Oslo in June and I wrote about it here: M2M 💜 OverOslo: My Story. Spoiler alert: it was an incredible experience, and you should buy a ticket for one of the upcoming concerts.

I already have my tickets for México City, so if you see me in the crowd, feel free to say hello!

Posts from the official accounts. Keep up to date by following them!

5 million listeners : The band just published their Spotify numbers: 16 million streams and 4.8 million fans listening this year. Unbelievable. I’d call that pretty good for a band whose last song was released before Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone (the movie, not the book).

Marit is making new music: First, if you’re reading this and you’re not subscribed to Marit’s newsletter, what are you doing!? Click here to subscribe. Second, go and listen to When Susannah Cries by Marit (and the original too, for good measure). Third, I linked to a copy from my email, so excuse the formatting. Seriously, go subscribe and listen.

Marit is touring again: Marit will be touring Norway in 2026! Yes, it’s only Norway so I’m sorry for some of you living in another continent (believe me, I know). However, if you do take yearly vacations, Norway is beautiful any time of the year. To say she’s an incredible performer is an understatement (I mean, I’m biased but who cares?).

💜 M2M in 2025

A recap of some (not all!) important events in the fandom this past year.

The reunion officially happened late last year and so 2025 had big shoes to fill. After the announcement, there was an unbelievable amount of excitement from the fans seeing the band come back after so many years apart
but the shadow of uncertainty loomed over, and not even Marit and Marion knew what to expect: was this tour a one-off thing? Would they make new music? What would the concerts be like?

I’d remind you that The Better Endings Tour is their first tour since inception. Yes, they toured with Jewel and they performed in many different places all over the world to promote both Shades of Purple and The Big Room, but this is the first time they’re the headliners. This is the first time people are coming to watch them, to listen to them.

Given everything that has been brewing in late 2024 the fans were rabid for any info before the concerts began in April. That’s how the year started and that’s when the M’s started opening up and giving us a glimpse into what truly made them come back for the fans

đŸ•°ïž Before The Tour

The year started with the expectatio_n of The Better Endings Tour._ We all know that the M’s love unveiling things at their own pace, so we had to wait a couple of weeks until we got the first big interview: CNA’s recap of the reunion. This appears to be the first meaningful interview of the year where they describe at length where they were emotionally and musically.

Thinking back on this interview, I couldn’t believe how shocking the experience of being a fan was. “They’re doing Zoom interviews!?”, I screamed at my screen, incredulous that M2M was on the internet.

I’m showing my age here (and being dramatic because that’s why you like my newsletter) but when I was a fan in the early 2000’s, all I could aspire to was finding random magazine articles from them, or scouring PHPBB forums for any rumors on where they already had been. My best opportunity back then for knowing about them was mailing a letter and hoping (praying!) that I’d get a response back. I never did that because I never actually knew where to send the letter to, but now they’re active on social media and giving Zoom interviews? Unbelievable. Inconceivable. Need to know if we’re going anywheređŸŽ”

CNA Lifestyle caught up with Marion Raven (left) and Marit Larsen in February over Zoom ahead of M2M's The Better Endings Tour 2025.

And then, without a warning, they released what is, to me, the interview of a lifetime. Elle Norge’s M2M interview is without a doubt the piĂšce de rĂ©sistance of the pre-tour months. The photos are extremely high quality and the interview was extensive about how they felt coming back, what should we expect from a new M2M and how they were in control of the narrative now. If you have a copy of it, you’re very lucky. If not, the preeminent fan account @m2m_music has got you covered (check the interview here).

The interviews and social media posts, however, could not help us answer one of the open questions after the return
who is M2M musically in 2025? For those of us that had followed one M or the other (or both!) we knew that their voices were still impeccable, but, was M2M going to sound the same now as when they were Shades of Purple? Should they even sound the same?

The question was answered in early May in the best way possible: with new music. Still In My Dreams was announced early April with a re-imagining of some of their most popular songs.

With Marit producing (at Marion’s request), these songs are M2M but they’re not 2000’s M2M, they’re now the fully-in-control band, whose sound is particularly theirs, and it’s clear that the two talented musician singer-songwriters still have some shared music to give to the world. (Yes, I am listening to the EP as I write this and you should too).

Even though the new songs were released right after Jakarta, I’m including it in this section because only a handful of people (well, more than a handful, try thousands!) were at Indonesia to know what 2025 M2M sounded like. For the rest of us, this was the best we could do, until the concerts

💜 The Better Endings Tour

M2M in 2025 all over the world.

The tour started in Jakarta which is now embedded in M2M history as their first ever solo concert. Recently, the duo revealed that they had a very difficult time at the beginning of the concert because Jakarta was real. This wasn’t band practice, or a TikTok video, or them opening for someone else.

I can imagine that right after the first song, the concert just fell into place for them, you know? Their first concert was all the hopes and dreams of a reunion brought to life, but  it was also the promise of something that they hoped to deliver.

And after that first song in Jakarta, it became real. The fans, the stage, the friendship: all real.

I took this photo at the Oslo concert.

What’s incredible from this comeback is that it hit all the right notes. I wrote about it on my OverOslo recap:

“When I spoke with my friend earlier that day, M2M came up during our conversation, and it became obvious to me that their resurgence came about at exactly the right time for Millenials. Marit and Marion's rekindled friendship represents so much more than two Norwegian singer-songwriters getting back together for one last hurrah. I believe for some of us, this reunion serves as a reminder that good things still happen in the world. That not everything is bleak and lost. That genuine, cheerful, bright pop music can be an oasis of happiness; a respite from the constant stream of negative news.”

It feels like it’s not only those of us who attended these concerts know the feeling. The concerts were constantly packed all over South East Asia and it was no different when I visited Oslo for the OverOslo concert. People were flying all over the world to see them. I met people from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Indonesia, PerĂș, MĂ©xico, the US, Canada, Norway, Philippines, Singapur
truly a fantastic cultural experience to see M2M play live.

Credit to Mailén from Argentina, who organized the fan meetup at Oslo!

Then I also have to mention the fan groups. During the concert months, the community of creators around M2M became a hive of updates, photos and giveaways. During 2025, I was lucky enough to talk with some people that are really devoted and help the M2M fandom at times when the official media took a breather. People like m2m_music, m2m.oslo, ravenlarsenanthology to name a few. These people are approachable and make sure that fans, both old and new, feel welcome in the community. I’m lucky to be a part of that.

Of course I have to highlight m2m.mexico đŸ‡ČđŸ‡œ, the fan group closest to me (literally and figuratively).

I’ve highlighted their posts in the past, but these groups helped everyone who couldn’t attend the concerts feel the energy. They highlighted amazing videos, translated interviews from Norwegian to English, even commissioned drawings and videos. All of this done because they love the group and they know that giving to a community (any community!) is all about expressing yourself. It’s art whose root is M2M’s art. If that isn’t beautiful, I don’t know what is.

Art that makes friendships and memories.

Yes, the concerts proved to be an incredible success for the group and the fandom. Every single fan that I met at the concerts had only good things to say about M2M, and Marit, and Marion. Some of them had met them previously, and would confirm every single positive rumor you’ve heard about them: they’re attentive, they’re considerate with their fans, they’ll make sure that fans get an experience out of the concert.

I was lucky enough to meet them. For a few minutes in OverOslo and then very briefly at the Oslo Sentrum Scene concerts. On a very personal note, the times I’ve met Marit and Marion have been exactly as described above and it makes me incredibly happy to say that the people behind the music are as lovely and graceful as their art.

🔜 What’s next?

After the last concert of 2025, things slowed down and with good reason: the last 6 months have been a barrage of interviews, stories, growth, and performing for the band. In addition, you probably already know but Marit is in Hver Gang Vi Mþtes (a series that’ll come out this week!) and Marion is a judge at The Voice Norge. Their year has been explosive, so I’m sure the last few weeks have helped them regain their footing for an exciting 2026.

Next month (meaning January 2026) in MĂ©xico, M2M will perform their last known concert of the tour. There’s still tickets left, so this may be your last chance for a while to see them. Check out La Maraka’s webpage for more info; there’s even some Meet and Greet tickets left! If you do attend, be sure to say hello if you see me!

Then, Marit will begin touring in 2026. I’ve already highlighted this, but it’ll happen in 2026, so I thought I’d mention it again.

As for what’s next, well, I’m the unofficial newsletter 😉, so I have no idea what the band will do in 2026. I’ll tell you, though, that I’ll keep writing this newsletter as long as people read it and as long as M2M is active. So, here’s hoping 2026 is a great year for the band and for you, the fans.

📟 Band Trivia

There once was a band from the late 1900’s

Did you know that M2M’s hit song Eventually was written in Chile? In an interview on the now defunct Marion2U website, Marion answers the question “What’s the quickest song you have ever written?”

“What's the quickest song you have ever written?
Marion: Ahh. 'Eventually' the bonus track as we were both in love whilst in Chile, sitting on top of this waterfall. It was soo romantic, we wrote 'Eventually' in a couple of hours after that.”

My sources are telling me we even have a picture of them atop this waterfall:
