💜 M2M Fans Newsletter #2

The unofficial M2M newsletter!

Happy M2M day everyone! Yesterday, M2M announced NEW dates for The Better Endings tour! They’re finally crossing the Atlantic (the ocean, not the record company) and coming to the land of tacos, warm people, and even warmer climate: beautiful México! 🇲🇽

There are some exciting news in this newsletter, so let’s get started!

As always, please remember to check the official sources. As much as I enjoy writing this newsletter and adding more commentary to certain items, there is no substitute for following M2M on their official accounts here 👇

🎸 The Better Endings Tour

Concerts in Norway, Thailand and Taiwan are coming up!

Kicking off in Jakarta, dazzling fans through SEA then pausing for a breather in Oslo, The Better Endings Tour has raged on for almost 5 months. There are no concerts planned for September, but the next leg of the tour is still planned for October and November:

And now, we know that they will continue touring in 2026! They’ve just announced a new date in México City. If you’re a Mexican fan, rejoice! Tickets are going fast though! Make sure to grab yours soon!

As an old-school fan (since 1999!), I was lucky enough to catch them in Oslo in June and I wrote about it here: M2M 💜 OverOslo: My Story. Spoiler alert: it was an incredible experience, and you should buy a ticket for one of the upcoming concerts.

I already have my tickets for Oslo and México City, so if you see me in the crowd, feel free to say hello!

🇲🇽 M2M is coming to México

I covered it in the above section, but it’s worth saying again. It’s official! The band is coming to México! The two links in the above section will take you to La Maraka’s official site to buy the tickets. If that doesn’t work, here’s the link to Ticketmaster for the 23rd and 24th of January 2026.

🎵 Marit is participating in _ Hver gang vi møtes _

Hver gang vi møtes (or Everytime we meet, in English) is a Norwegian TV show where a group of well-known Norwegian musicians spend time together at a countryside farm. There, they perform covers of another person’s songs in their own styles. Since this happens in a secluded and safe space, it’s often emotional and the covered artist will usually share personal stories or anecdotes about their music.

I cannot emphasize how much Marit deserves this kind of attention. Her songs (both as M2M and as a solo artist) are lyrically beautiful and to have them celebrated in this way feels right. I know the artists that will cover them will make each song justice while giving us a brand new version of their own. As fans, this is an unbelievably unique opportunity for us. Let’s support the artists’ renditions of Marit’s songs when they come out!

According to VG Live, the show will air on TV2 Play and TV2 Direct in January 2026. If anyone knows how to watch, let me know!

👦 Pretty Boy… in Norwegian?!

No, this is not the new song from Still in my dreams - EP, it’s a brand new song by Stig Brenner. The official M2M account shared Stig’s new song—Prettyboy—which samples M2M’s Pretty Boy and turns it into this amazing rap (!). You’ll very quickly recognize the Pretty Boy tune, followed by Norwegian rap. Stig is a 2x Spellemannprisen nominee, so you know it’s going to be a good song. Take a listen here: Apple Music, Spotify.

🪭 The (online) Fans

Online, the M2M-verse is buzzing with activity in social media and messaging groups.

🙋 Where do I start listening?

“After the break-up, I followed {either Marit or Marion}. Now, I want to catch up and listen to all of {the other M}’s music. Where do I start? Do I start chronollogically?”

I’ve seen this question pop-up in several places during the past few months. It’s a lovely question! Now that the band is back together, fans have a lot of amazing music to listen to!

For Marion’s music , the top recommendation was to start with Songs from a Blackbird, and from there you can explore. Her albums go in very different directions: from pop in her early solo career, to more dramatic and somber in Mellom disse 4 vegger.

For Marit’s music, I would personally recommend chronologically. Under the Surface is an absolute masterpiece of an album. However, some other fans said they’d start with When The Morning Comes which is a brighter, more pop-sounding album.

Let’s be honest: the only wrong choice is not to start. Both Marit and Marion are amazing singers and songwriters and I’m truly happy to have people discover them now because they have a lot of music to go through. Put on some decent headphones, press play, and enjoy the journey 🎵.

📰 Fan accounts

Speaking of fans, the fan accounts in the M2M-verse have been putting out amazing content. We’re lucky to have such a vibrant community thanks, in no small measure, to how much people love the M’s.

Surprise M2M PH fans!

It is no secret that Filipino fans are, collectively, the most devoted of M2M fans. And to celebrate that, Marit and Marion decided to have a live call with a group of fans organized by @m2m_ph!

This is absolutely one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time. I love how approachable Marit and Marion are, and how amazing Filipino fans are.

This is a beautiful, beautiful video to celebrate a year of M2M being reunited. It’s made by the admins of the (unofficial) global M2M chat in Telegram but I have to highlight @m2m_music.

I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with m2m_music several times and every time it’s been a fantastic experience. It’s easy to see all the fan activity right now, but before the reunion I can’t think of a more active M2M fan account than m2m_music. I hope you see that all your efforts in keeping the fan community alive were worth it.

@m2m_ph

m2m_ph took the time to put together this beautiful carrousel of images with quotes from a recent article from VG where Marit talks about her friendship with Marion. Take a look at the photos, they’re wonderful.

Here’s the original article (paywalled, unfortunately). Also, disclaimer, I bought a subscription to VG.no so m2m_ph could work on this.

@m2mvibes

With the big reveal that M2M is coming to México–and being Mexican myself– I am almost forced to link to this beautiful rendition of Marion singing Når du sover, which m2mvibes has very kindly provided… with lyrics in Spanish! The video has English subtitles, but m2mvibes’ caption provides the lyrics in Spanish.

I consider myself lucky to hear Marion singing, period. However, it’s even more of an experience when she does it in Norwegian. Go and watch the video; it’ll give you chills.

@m2m_forever

Art is not something one can ignore or escape from. It’s this pressure that’s built inside you that you need to release somehow. Sometimes it’s writing (hello), sometimes it’s music, and sometimes it’s drawing.

This absolutely stunning timelapse of a pencil drawing of M2M by m2m_forever reminds me that there’s a lot of artists out there and they’re very talented. Take a minute to watch the video which includes, of course, M2M music.

📟 Band trivia

There once was a band from the late 1900’s…

M2M have one very famous song in Spanish: Todo Lo Que Haces. Translated by Jose Ramón Flórez, this song took the Hispanic world by storm in the early 2000’s. However! Do you know that’s not the only song M2M has sung in Spanish? Thanks to M2M historian Juan Pablo Hernandez, we know that there is a version of Love Left for Me in Spanish! Well, I may be overselling it… it’s more like a few verses 😬

It’s from the early 2000’s so of course it’s potato quality, but still, check it out!

That’s it for today’s newsletter. Thank you so much for reading!

Like I said, this is an unofficial, fan-made newsletter but if you liked it, feel free to share the newsletter with your friends, reply to this email, or reach me @fernando.writes.things.
